Sylvain PineauSylvain joins the Regina Optimist Dolphin Swim Club after 24,350 total hours (or 1,015 days, or 145 weeks, or 2 years and 10 months) on deck coaching swimmers to be the best they can be.  He was a national swimmer and coached at the University of Victoria while he graduated from the National Coaching Institute and was the youngest to receive his NCCP Level IV in 1997-98.

His coaching career began in Beauport, QC, in September 1986-87 as a Development Coach and Swim School Director. He spent six years in the early 90’s in his first Head Coach position with the Club Aquatique de Charlesbourg (CAC) in Charlesbourg, QC where he moved the CAC from 62nd (1991) to 4th (1997) in the province, as well as, a string of National Championship Finalists.  The club grew from 25 members to 150 competitive swimmers, a swim school of over 200 and a summer league with over 400 swimmers.

In September 1998, he coached with the Dorado Stars based in Caledon East, ON a city of 10,000 people, where his swimmers made Pan Pacific Games qualifiers and finalist, Pan American Games medalist, Olympic Youth Festival winners, National Gold medalists (6), and national records, as well as, coached with the national team twice.

Sylvain has been with the Scarborough Swim Club for the past nine years where his swimmers collected medals at Nationals, performances at the World University Games qualifier, Ontario senior records (by the late, great, Victor Davis), finished top 10 at Canadian Open and Grand Prix. The Scarborough Swim Club had 1-3 National Junior team qualifiers over the past eight years and also won the highest performing team award in 1997 (medal count compared to # of swimmers).  The club has grown as big as 140+ competitive, 290+ pre-competitive, and 80 masters’ swimmers.

Susan Hadubiak

Coordinator Jr Dolphins and Team Manager

My swimming experience was with the City of Saskatoon as an instructor and lifeguard. I was not a competitive speed swimmer although I “dove in” when my children joined summer speed swimming ten years ago. I quickly got involved and have served in various capacities on both the board level and as a speed swimming official. I have also been a team manager and tournament chair for minor hockey tournaments as well as on the tournament committee of two major tournaments here in Regina.

I am excited about taking all that I have learned in summer swimming and minor hockey in a new direction. I am really looking forward to this new challenge, to being part of the RODS Swim Club and getting to know everyone.
